The Mobile Applications program is aimed at you who want to explore and experience the world of application design and development for mobile devices. You get a chance to develop both your design and technical skills, with a parallel focus on idea generation, entrepreneurship and how to turn your ideas into applications with high usability.
You will work in close collaboration with industry professionals, drawing on their insight and experience in order to respond real problems facing the industry today. You will also build on your existing design and technical abilities, whilst exploring methods for idea generation and user experience design, to create highly usable mobile applications.
At Hyper Island, you will be in an environment that mirrors the workplace, and will innovate solutions to overcome real challenges that you will face as a professional. Furthermore, you will develop entrepreneurial skills, a capacity to create business strategies, understand group dynamics processes and practise self-leadership, giving you the tools to make it on your own.
English is the working language at Hyper Island, and people join us from all over the world. We currently host students from no less than 19 different countries, a number that continues to grow each year.
This program covers the following:
- Group dynamics and self-leadership
- The mobile landscape
- Design for mobile devices
- Mobile application development – testing, optimization, etc.
- Mobile application programming focused on web service based prototypes
- Business perspectives on the Mobile application industry – budgeting, business models and cost and time estimation
Internship within our global network:
During your final 20 weeks you will undertake an internship, most likely with one of the 600 companies in Hyper Island’s global network. Over many years Hyper Island has formed strong connections with the industry and, through your internship, you will be given an opportunity to build an international network of contacts and opportunities.
Infinite career possibilities:
After you graduate from this program you will be able to work as an Applications Designer or Developer, or Creative Producer, anywhere in the world. You will leave us with the ability to:
- Design a mobile application or game, including preparing a business plan for its publication and work plan for its development
- Understand how to make profit from mobile devices
- Identify start-up opportunities in the applications market
- Identify a team of people, technical resources and other assets required to complete a mobile application project
- Demonstrate skills in personal development and team work.
Program requirements:
The Mobile Applications Program requires a minimum of one year of relevant industry experience (or equivalent – ie self taught) within the field of programming.
High School Diploma (Gymnasium) or foreign equivalent.
Program fee:
Nordic applicants
For persons with a legal residency in any of the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Faeroe Islands), regardless of nationality or citizenship, it is possible to apply to one of the governmentally funded (AVET/HVEC) seats, i.e free of charge. Please note that applicants eligible for governmentally funded seats are also able to apply to International seats with a program fee. For International Students the 60-week program fee is 150.000 SEK.
